OUR COMMITMENT TO FIRST NATIONS COMMUNITIES
Acknowledgement of Country
The Nurtura Co acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which we live and work, the Bunurong Peoples of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and we recognise their continuing connection to land, waters, culture, and community. The Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation is a Traditional Owner organisation representing Bunurong peoples of the South Eastern Kulin Nation.
At Nurtura, care, connection, and respect sit at the heart of what we do. Because of that, we believe comfort and belonging should always be grounded in thoughtfulness, respect, and community.
OUR FIRST NATIONS COMMITMENT
Nurtura is committed to being respectful, inclusive, and culturally aware in the way we communicate, create, and grow. This commitment reflects our values. It also reflects our belief that care should shape both what we offer and how we show up.
We acknowledge the strength, wisdom, and enduring cultural leadership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We also know that inclusion requires more than good intentions. It requires humility, continued learning, and a willingness to listen.
SUPPORTING THE INTENT OF CLOSING THE GAP
Nurtura supports the intent of Closing the Gap. We recognise the importance of contributing, in meaningful and considered ways, to better outcomes for First Nations peoples.
The National Agreement on Closing the Gap aims to enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and governments to work together to overcome inequality, and it is built around four Priority Reforms that focus on changing the way governments work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
We do not make this statement lightly. Instead, we see it as an ongoing commitment to learn, reflect, and look for genuine ways to contribute as the business grows.
A THOUGHTFUL AND RESPECTFUL APPROACH
We know this work is ongoing. Therefore, we are committed to learning over time, not claiming to have all the answers now.
As Nurtura evolves, we want our actions to be thoughtful rather than performative. We also want to create space for conversations that support inclusion, cultural awareness, and community connection in ways that are genuine and respectful.
WE WELCOME COLLABORATION
As Nurtura grows, we welcome opportunities to connect with First Nations individuals, communities, educators, artists, consultants, and organisations.
For example, this may include conversations about cultural awareness, inclusive practice, community participation, collaboration, or future opportunities to support meaningful outcomes through the work we do.
If you would like to connect with us about a collaboration, conversation, or community opportunity, we would love to hear from you.
